Lorna Layward
An experienced biomedical executive with over 30 years’ experience in the academic and voluntary sectors. She has extensive experience in the fields of biomedical research; science and funding strategy; science policy development and implementation at the highest level; a wide understanding of the impact of disease and support required; and communication via a variety of media. She has received 4 prizes for science communication for lay audiences.
She has a wealth of experience in the medical research charity sector leading Research into Ageing at Help the Aged for 6 years, and being responsible for the research functions of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
With a PhD in Immunology, she has over 35 full scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals including Nature, Current Biology and Immunology Today.
Since 2009 Lorna has been providing consultancy services to the private and voluntary sectors, including:
